As we work, we braid the strands together, just as our mothers and grandmothers have before us. Inspired by the past and created in the present, with the constant evolution of life, we weave together the elements, creating new patterns and new possibilities.’

As the Gone Rural women weave, just as their mothers and grandmothers have before them, they keep alive skills, stories and songs, passed down from their ancestors. Inspired by the three generations’ biography baskets, but with a more functional application, these limited edition lines are designed as collector’s items, to be the standout piece in any room. Song is storytelling in Africa and so, in sharing ‘The Song of the Weaver’, these baskets intimately tell the stories of the women that inspired them.
